According to Pinterest, and basically every celebrity on the red carpet this awards season, short nails are back with a vengeance. Yep, those long stiletto nails are taking a day off, and we're welcoming back those cute clipped...
Why short nails are in fashion this year
Okay, let's unpack this trend because as long-nailed STANS, we too needed the full DL.
Sooo, Pinterest has pretty much topped any trend this year, from micro haircuts to short nails. And when you think about it, you can kind of put two and two together.
As our lives get busier and busier, short nails are definitely the easiest option to maintain. The idea of being able to put on our jewelry (by ourselves) or undo our buttons without help is very appealing... Plus, it cuts your nail appointments in half, which is another major benefit. #BuZyBishes! Oh, and they usually end up costing a little less, since extensions aren't necessary.
There's also a nail myth that short nails are boring. We admit that this was one of our concerns, specifically, how am I going to experience my one true love: nail art, with a smaller canvas? Well, after a quick poll on some of our favorite nailspo Instagram pages, we can confirm that nail art is 100% possible with shorter nails.
Shorter nails also tend to be more practical. If you like long nails, you'll know how easily skin care or food can get under your nails!
And finally, we want to tackle a stereotype about short nails. There is an unfair idea that the nails more Long nails are "more feminine," but that's an outdated stereotype we'd like to stop. Regardless of your gender, wear long or short nails according to your preference; wear what energizes you and makes you feel good.
